Big Green Cuisine is a Vegetarian/Vegan recipe website filled with wonderful advice, stories and recipes for those who wish to cook Vegan style.
My love of the art and style of cuisine grew, but it was reading a book called “Diet for a New America” by John Robbins that stopped me in my tracks and really made me think about the food I ate.
When people ask me why I chose to become a vegan, the easiest way I can say it is this: I want to live a kinder life. If animals don’t have to be killed in order to nourish me, why would I be part of that? If the production of animal products are so hard on our environment, and not eating them can be a small but definite way to make a difference, why wouldn’t I want to be part of that? If living this way shows my daughter how to value all living things, to live a long and healthy life, to understand the far reaching consequences of something as simple as eating, why not do this for her? There are lots of reasons people have for embracing a plant based diet, I can’t think of a decent reason NOT to.
What’s next? Big Green Cuisine! Through this website, my goal is to provide people with information, tools, recipes and if they need it, products to help them experience just how easy and satisfying it is to “go veg”.
I think back to my (then) four year old, asking my Uncle, “Why are you not a vegetarian, Uncle John?”, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Awesome. Living “La Vida Veggie” has been a major turning point in my life… I’ve never looked back and never regretted it.
